COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY

COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY NAVAN

CBT is a type of psychotherapy which works on the premise that our thoughts affect our behaviours and feelings, and that it is our thoughts that make us feel bad rather than our life circumstances or situations. CBT treatment usually involves efforts to change thinking and behaviour patterns that causes problems in one’s life. It is considered one of the most effective forms of therapy that has helped many people around the world.

CBT requires both you and me to be collaborative, committed, and communicative. In our first session we can decide on realistic, attainable and meaningful goals to strive for. We will break your problems down into smaller areas so that you can figure out what the areas of concern are. We will explore your thoughts and feelings and how they might be having an impact on your life. One of the goals of CBT is to challenge your thoughts and consider other angles which would have a positive effect on your situation.

I will help you to identify, tackle and change unhelpful thinking so that your mind-set, behaviours and overall well-being improve with time. When you change the way you think and feel about specific situations, it will likely be easier to adapt your behaviours in the future.

CBT can be used to treat a variety of issues like:

Anger management

OCD

Relationship issues

Worrying

Anxiety

 Panic/anxiety attacks

 Stress

Depression

Phobias

 Substance misuse

Irrational beliefsPTSDSuicidal ideation
