WHAT IS ANXIETY?
Anxiety is a feeling of unease, such as worry or fear, that can be mild or severe. Everyone has feelings of anxiety at some point in their life. For example, you may feel worried and anxious about sitting an exam, or having a medical test or job interview.
During times like these, feeling anxious can be perfectly normal.
Anxiety becomes a problem when you find it hard to control your worries. Your feelings and symptoms of anxiety can become more constant and may often affect your daily functioning.

WHAT IS DEPRESSION?
Depression is a mental health condition which can affect thinking, energy, feelings and behaviour. It can vary from mild to severe and can have a profound impact, affecting every aspect of your life. Depression is a very common condition which affects one in 10 people at any one time in Ireland. Recovery is possible, early recognition and ongoing support are key to a positive outcome.

It’s important to note that anxiety and depression often come together. When you get anxious, you tend to have this pervasive thinking about some worry or problem. You feel bad about it. Then you feel like you have failed. You move to depression. One can easily trigger the other, with anxiety often preceding depression. Treatment for anxiety should not be delayed. If not caught in time, depression may find the door wide open for moving in and setting up house.
